The ingredients needed to cook Beetroot Appe:
- Provide 1 cup idli batter
- Provide 1 beetroot rinsed, peeled and grated
- You need 1 onion finely chopped
- Use 2-3 green chillies finely chopped
- Take 1 inch ginger finely chopped or grated

- Provide 1/2 tsp Eno fruit salt

Steps to make Beetroot Appe:
- Assemble the ingredients like idli batter, grated beetroot, chopped onion, chopped green chillies, chopped ginger, curry leaves and salt.
- Transfer all these to a mixing bowl. Mix everything well and keep aside.
- Heat 1 tsp oil in a tempering pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves and saute on a medium flame for few seconds. Turn off the flame and add the tempering to the above prepared batter. Mix well and keep aside for 20-30 minutes.
- Add the Eno fruit salt to the batter and give a good stir.
- Heat the appe pan and grease the moulds with little oil. Pour a spoonful of batter in each mould, cover the pan and cook on a low flame for 2-3 minutes.
- When the outer surface of the appe becomes light brown then turn upside down and cook the other side for 2 more minutes. See that the appe gets golden brown from both the sides.
