The ingredients needed to make Layered Sooji Dhokla:
- Take 1 cup sooji
- Take 1/2 cup curd
- Get 1 teaspoon eno salt
- Get 1 teaspoon oil for greasing
- Take 2 teaspoon oil for tadka / tempering
- Provide to taste salt
- You need 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- Get 1 teaspoon white sesame seeds
- Use 2 tsp Curry leaves
- Provide 7-8 Garlic cloves
- You need 3-4 teaspoon kashmiri red chilli powder
- Provide 1 inch ginger
- Provide 1 chopped carrot (for colour)
Steps to make Layered Sooji Dhokla:
- Add chopped carrots to a mixer container, add kasmiri red chilli powder,garlic cloves,ginger and little water, grind this to a smooth paste
- In a mixing bowl add whisked curd to the sooji. Add salt and mix well without leaving any lumps. Cover this mixture and keep aside for 10 mins
- Then divide the mixture into 3 equal portions
- Place a cooker on the gas and keep a stand in it. Add little water.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon eno salt to one portion of sooji mixture. Now grease the container with oil and pour this one portion of mixture in it. Cook this for 7 minutes in the cooker.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon eno salt to second portion of sooji mixture and also add the carrot paste to it. Add this to the container & cook for another 7 minutes in the cooker.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon eno salt to the third portion of sooji mixture and add it to the container & cook for another 7 minutes in the cooker.
- After total 21 mins remove the container from the cooker and leave it for resting. In the meantime prepare the tadka
- To a small kadai add oil and when it heats enough add mustard seeds,sesame seeds and curry leaves to it. Pour this on the steamed dhokla
- Now cut the dhokla and serve hot with chutney / sauce
