- Get 1 cup Chana Dal
- Provide 1/3 cup white split Urad Dal
- Take 1/4 cup yellow split Moong Dal
- Use 1/4 cup red Masoor Dal
- Prepare 4-5 Garlic cloves
- Use 1/2 inch Ginger
- Use 1 Green Chilli
- Get 1 finely chopped Onion
- Take 1/4 cup Finely chopped Coriander leaves
- Provide 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- Get to taste Salt
- Use 1 pinch Hing/asafoetida
- Take pinch cooking Soda
- Get 2 tsp Oil for greasing the steaming plates
Instructions to make Bafauri:
- Soak Chana Dal and all other Dals separately in water for at least for 4 hrs.
- Drain and grind Dals along with ginger, garlic, green chilli, heeng using no water to a coarse paste.
- Transfer to a big bowl, add salt, turmeric powder, chopped onion, coriander leaves. Combine everything. Add 2 pinches of soda too, mix well to form a thick mixture.
- Prepare the Steamer & grease the button idli tray or a plate with oil. Drop small balls of this mixture using spoon or hand into holes.
- Steam for 15-20 mins or till fork comes out clean.
- Enjoy Hot with green chutney!
