  1. You need 1/2 tsp Toor Dal
  2. Provide 1 tsp musturd seeds
  3. Get 1 tsp cumin seeds
  4. Prepare 1/2 tsp corriander seeds
  5. Take 1/4 tsp methi seeds
  6. Take 1/4 tsp hing
  7. Take 14-15 curry leaves
  8. Prepare 4 red dry whole chillies
  9. Take 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  10. Take 4 garlic cloves
  11. Get 2 tbs oil
  12. Take 3 chopped tomatoes
  13. Get 1 cup chopped corriander leaves with stems
  14. Use 1/2 cup Tamarind water
  15. Use 1 & 1/2 cup water
  16. Provide 1/2 tsp haldi powder
  17. Prepare Salt to taste
Instructions to make Tomato Rasam:
  1. Heat up a pan on low heat and dry roast all the spices untill nice aroma comes.(Toor dal, musturd seeds,cumin seeds,methi dana, corriander seeds,hing,curry leaves,red chillies,garlic & black pepper powder)
  2. After cool down..Put them in a blender jar and make a course powder out of it.
  3. Heat up a pan with 2 tbs of oil.Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, few curry leaves, red chilli, 3 finely chopped garlic and Saute them for 30 sec.
  4. Now add chopped Tomatoes as well as salt and haldi powder.Mash them with spatula and cook untill get soft.
  5. Now add 1/2 cup Tamarind water. Cover it and cook for 2 mins. Add prepared dry roast masala and mix well.
  6. Now add 1 & 1/2 cup of water..let the water comes to a boil. Then add chopped corriander leaves with stems.
  7. Mix and cook for 1 min. Then switch off the flame and serve hot with steam rice.
